The Kuehns Find Dances in Spite of the Weather

Hi Everyone,
We are sure missing our Yuma dance friends and our great group of callers and cuers.  How lucky we are there.  We have been to several dances (about 10) since our return and have been fortunate enough to have (I think) 3 round dances that weren't a Phase 2!

You have probably heard all about our awful weather and believe me its all true.  We had a great trip home and a wonderful first week and then WOW!  One night the snow was so heavy we couldn't even see across the street so we closed the blinds, put the fireplace on and stayed in for 2 full days.  April here was the coldest one in 30 years.  Tell us about Global Warming!

However, the last few days have been great and we hope it will be warm this weekend when we are off, as usual, to the Wandering Squares Campout.  The next weekend we will go to Tees to dance with Jerry Jestin as the Red Deer Clubs host a great weekend event.  Red Deer is where Jamboree (with Jerry) is being held Labour Day weekend and we sure hope to see a bunch of you there.

043Dance with Ken Bower2013
The picture is from a dance May 2 with Ken Bower from Palm Springs calling.  That was a great dance.  We enjoyed seeing and dancing with Max and Mary in our square and in the square to the right of us Rudy and Judy, all from Rocky Mountain House where we plan to go to their dance weekend in mid June.  Several other Yuma dancer friends were also there, several of them, like us, proudly wearing Bob and Jerry badges.

As my son usually ends his emails to us, Dance, Dance, Dance, and we will look forward to seeing you across a square soon.  Also, if you are coming our way let us know and we can tell you what’s up for dancing, etc in the area.

Travel safe, until next time.

News from Our Dancers

In reply to  the Adamson's waking up to temps in the 20s, Joe and Gwen sent this:

Oh, that is cold, we are in the 70’s for the next week(Medford OR)------yippee. Had a fun dance last night,Lantz Dantzer, with a plant and seed exchange for Spring.  Next venture is to our 30 year old Grandaughter Jessica’s graduation from College, SummaCumLaude, with a wonderful husband that helped her thru with a 3 yr old and 7 month old, so proud. The following month its graduation for our youngest Grandaughter, age 22, from College.  Her Grandpa Joe will walk with her.  He graduated from the same school over 50 yrs ago so will be issued a Gold Cap and Gown to walk with Breanne, she will have a black cap and gown.  Will send picture after the graduation. Miss you all, hugs----Gwen & Joe Matocha

Meanwhile, Steve and Judy claim we left too early:

For all you people who left Yuma already, the weather has been about perfect ..  Thank god as Steve and I are tiling the patio, and Gordon and Doris came by a couple days to give us a hand.  Really appreciated that.  Hope this cool weather continues for a while.  Great day everyone.  Steve and Judy Smith

and the Nobles are far across the sea where it's also cold:

Hi from Germany.

It has been cold in Germany (around 0 to 5 degrees C).  We went to Italy where it has been 25 C..

More from our Snowbirds

This just in from Wayne and Jeannette Wallace:

We are still in the San Diego area.

We have family here and have been spending time with them as well as doing some touristy things: San Diego Zoo, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and whale watching.  We will start heading toward Wisconsin next week.

Here is a picture leaving downtown San Diego for whale watching  ... we followed a blue whale for about half an hour ... he was gigantic ... the naturalist said he was about 80 feet long ... on the way back to the harbor we encountered a megapod of common dolphins ... they were showing off for us ... several of them were porpoising in tandem ... and there was even one foursome ...

and from Helen and Sandy Glennie, along with a photo of the lovely view from their lawn:

Sandy and I arrived back in Vernon this week, and here's Sandy having his morning coffee on our lawn as he surveys work that needs to be done.
Good to be home but we miss the dancing and Yuma friends.
See you in November
